About

I put together this blog in order to keep track of ideas, discoveries, references and other elements that I find useful along the journey of my doctoral research.

I am currently working in the field of socio-legal studies, with a focus on criminal law and violence against women in the Andean region and more specifically, in Ecuador, attempting a feminist critique of legal reform in these contexts, drawing from sets of literatures that include postmodern feminism, critical activism, post-colonial theory and feminist criminology.

My research is being developed at Kent Law School, University of Kent, UK.

The blog's title is a tribute to Carol Smart's 1989 book "Feminism and the Power of Law".

I keep another blog in Spanish about various topics having to do with law, feminism and secularism: Lunas Azules.
